Abd al-Rahman al-Bazzaz was a politician, reformist, and writer. He was a pan-Arab nationalist and served as the Dean of Baghdad Law College and later as Prime Minister of Iraq.

Jalal Barzanji is a contemporary Kurdish poet and writer. He has served on the board of Writers' Union and was Executive Director of Ministry of Culture in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Mohammed Amza az-Zubeidi was the Prime Minister of Iraq from 1991 to 1993. He is on the "Saddam's Dirty Dozen" list of people responsible for torture and murder in Iraq, playing a key role in Iraq's brutal suppression of the uprising of 1991.

Namir Noor-Eldeen was an Iraqi freelance photojournalist. He was killed, along with his assistant Saeed Chmagh and a number of Iraqi citizens, by U.S. military forces in the New Baghdad district of Baghdad, Iraq, during an airstrike on July 12, 2007.
